The Milky Way

The Milky Way galaxy is home to 400 billion stars and our own sun and
solar system. It is nearly 120,000 light-years across and a shining
example of a spiral galaxy. The above are some pictures of the Milky Way, at least the visible portion that can be seen from Earth, captured by amateur and professional photographers. 

Fun Fact: Every picture you’ve seen of the Milky Way from above is either another galaxy or an artist’s interpretation.
